The Bobcat, New York University Mascot

NYU students are known for freeing their wild side. In this university, a group of students share the privilege and responsibility of donning the school’s icon. NYU Bobcat, the university mascot represents the real university spirit. The Bobcat performs with pep banks, cheerleaders and the dance team to support the NYU athletic teams.

Bobcat was known to please crowds of college students as well as community members in all-university events and functions around the city. As always, NYU’s Bobcat is accompanied by the Bobcat Security Reps. All team members were involved in various Bobcat activities.

Aside from providing support to the student body in many university events, the mascot team aspires to be the university representative at the NDA/NCA nationals on a yearly basis. Recently, the NYU mascot qualified among the best mascot entries in Daytona Beach.

University Colors

For more than a hundred years, university athletes have worn white and violet colors especially during competitions. NYU was dubbed the “Violets” due to their violet color background. During the 1980s when a student used a violet-colored mascot, the university instead adopted Bobcat.

Residential Life and Housing at NYU

There are 20 residence halls that cater to 11,000 graduate and undergraduate students during summer and throughout the academic year. The university housing services coordinate with many student groups and departments to maintain and provide safe, secure and comfortable living environments that are suitable for NYU residents.

Freshmen should make it a point to visit the Office of Housing Services since it’s an excellent resource through your journey, residing on campus. On-campus housing helps a lot from planning the move to transitioning into the residential life. NYU’s services are housing and even beyond.
